Job Title: ASD Foundation Executive Director

Reports To: Board President, ASD Foundation Board

Location: ASD Administration Center, 31 S. Penn Street, Allentown

Salary: $55,000 to $62,400; full-time postition - 40+ hours/week

Benefits: Vacation/personal days include ten (10) total to start and paid holidays (up to 22 days to coincide with the ASD calendar).

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Allentown School District Foundation (ASDF) was established in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to encourage, promote, support and fund positive educational experiences for students in the Allentown School District (ASD). ASDF is a forward-thinking charity that raises funds and supplements programming to increase educational opportunities in many academic areas while helping the school district through conduit funding to support fundamental needs. ASDF has grown to reflect a balance sheet reaching $1 million with a vision to achieve annually $4-5 million in support of Allentown School District's students, approximately two-thirds of whom come from homes where English is not the first language spoken. Almost 90 percent of households in the City are classified as low-income. The ASDF Executive Director is responsible for implementing the Foundation's mission and for sharing the Foundation's vision and core values with the community at large. The ASDF is searching for an individual with high energy and a genuine commitment to teachers and students in Allentown. The ASDF Executive Director candidate should possess the skills and experience to accomplish the following :

• Effectively communicate with ASD students, teachers and administrators in support of the ASDF's mission to achieve long-term, sustainable funding for the ASD students' educational progress;

• Align the ASDF programs and fundraising with the priorities of the ASD;

• General management of the Foundation, including oversight of supplemental programming;

• Identify and cultivate prospective and existing donor relationships;

• Develop EITC program donations;

• Oversee Foundation finances;

• Direct the effort to produce a major ASDF Gala each year, and lead the fundraising campaign to attract up to $150,000 in sponsorships and ticket fees;

• Implement an annual public relationsplan;

• Develop alumni and donor databases, with the goal of adding professionals with financial acumen and capacity to the Board;

• Supervise Foundation administrative staff;

• Identify grant opportunities and draft grant applications;

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including a successful annual appeal. Financial matters Financial matters include oversight of funds that are donated and expended by the Foundation, creating annual budgets and reviewing monthly Treasurer's reports, maintaining/updating legal documents and student participation reports, creating Board meeting agendas and issuing timely correspondence with donors. Working with the ASDF president and board on a regular basis is key.

Responsibilities Include:

• Development and management of the Foundation e-mail list,

• Production of the Foundation's annualappeal,

• Providing upgrades/updates and current content to the Foundation website,

• Posting news items to the Foundation's social media platforms, and

• Management of the distribution of Foundation communications andpublicity.

The ASDF Executive Director will also work with the ASDF Administrator and ASDF Committee Chairpersons:

• To identify new donors,

• Develop lists of potential alumnidonors,

• Cultivate EITC funding sources,

• Assist the Investment Committee in developing and sustaining the Foundation's Endowment fund,

• Lead in the coordination of special events conducted by theFoundation,

• Accompany the Foundation Board President and other Executive Board members to meetings in the community as requested,

• Ad ress any other duties as determined by the Foundation board, and

• identify and provide program coordination support and resources to expand opportunities for ASDF teachers and children.

The ASDF Executive Director reports directly to the ASDF Board President. An office (classroom) is provided to the full-time Executive Director, a full-time Administrator, a part-time bookkeeper and seasonal college interns at the ASD Administration Center in Allentown, free of charge.

The ASDF Board of Directors is comprised of 18-22 community leaders, all of whom annually donate their time and money to the Foundation.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Professional experience as a director of a non-profit organization, or a community relations department within a high-level corporation or as a development officer in an educational setting.

• Experience with financial oversight and budgetdevelopment.

• Experience with public relations, marketing, social media and event planning.

• Experience with fundraising and grant writing, with a proven track record. • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Understanding of urban education challenges here in Allentown or elsewhere, a plus.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

College Degree, Masters Preferred, and at least five (5) years of experience in Education, Business, Non-Profit Administration, or related field preferred.
