Position Summary

The Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting technical problems, diagnosing, and management of surgical instruments within assigned hospitals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the daily processing and management of surgical instruments including: decontamination of instruments, instrument inspection, preventative maintenance and repair/ replacement processing; instrument and set reassembly; instrument set transport and retrieval; and inventory maintenance

• Communicate effectively with customers; listen to customers’ needs and take immediate action to meet them

• Collaborate with appropriate parties to identify the drivers leading to business success

• Proactively develop and maintain technical knowledge in specialized area(s), remaining up-to-date on current trends and best practices; maintain applicable certifications

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while providing flawless transactions, services and products; manage monetary assets and other resources to optimize cost effectiveness

Job Requirements/Specifications

Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience

• Previous sterile processing or operating room experience

Preferred:

• Certification from the International Association of Healthcare Central Sterile Materials Management (IAHCSMM), or Certifying Board of Sterile Processing Professionals (CBSPD), or Surgical Technology

• Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and ability to learn company specific programs

• Ability to be available for on-call and rotating weekend and holiday schedules

• Ability to be available for some local travel

• Ability to pass vendor credentialing process (initial and as is periodically required) and screening requirements to be credentialed at a hospital/health care facility

• Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile processing, instrument management, and/or logistics and scheduling

• Two years’ experience working in an operating room or other medical experience

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear

• Ability to remain seated for periods of time to perform computer based work

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds

• Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding)

• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for duration of work shift
